Review of The Long Goodbye (1973) by Mardi R — 21 Oct 2008
Definitely one of the weirder altman films (that's saying something).
Where elliott gould (as classic private eye philip marlowe) takes a time machine ride 20yrs ahead to early 70s Los Angeles. the wisecracking gould spends at least half of the film talking to himself. one of altman's better films, featuring a fantastically uber-drunk sterling hayden.
