Review of The Limits of Control (2009) by Jack T — 16 May 2010

Bit dissapointed with this one, as of late, Jarmusch is becoming a personal hero of mine. Whilst the cast are amazing - and Isaach De Bankole looks very beautiful, the story is far too self indulgent and existential for Jarmusch.

I prefer to see him applying his messages with a subtle hand, following characters in their lives, supervising improvised dialogue between vibrant and realsitic people. There is none of that here. Though in my heart he is still the king of the American Indie and there is still a lot to take from this film - each cast member/cameo brings a little something to the film and the direction and cinematography are, of course, fantastic- one cannot help but expect much more from Jarmusch.
