Review of The Lady Eve (1941) by Zoey P — 16 Jun 2009
Stanwyck makes the movie. (No surprise there, right?) The plot is pretty hokey, and Henry Fonda is is kind of off his game, I think. But Barbara Stanwyck does her thing...and redeems the whole thing.
And it really is funny. I think this movie pushes the edge about as far as it could be pushed as far as sexual innuendo goes. The scene where the Lady Eve is going through her list of conquests is hilarious.
Any Barbara Stanwyck fan will enjoy her performance here.
