Review of The Lady Eve (1941) by Jens T — 13 Apr 2012
Preston Sturges' The Lady Eve is the story about the woman-shy rich man son and a snake expect, Charles Pike (Henry Fonda) who just finished his one year long expedition in the Amazon and on board the ship his father owns.
On that ship there's the con artist, or in this case a gold digger Jean Harrington (Barbra Stanwyck) is planing to seduce Pike, but falls in love with him, but when he finds out who she really is, he dumbs her, but she have developed real feelings to him and she wants her revenge, but posing as a rich over class woman and causes concussing with Pike who thinks he have seen her before.
The Lady Eve is good comedy which evolves around the conventional trust in love. And all the error and pains of relationships and marriage. And also Barbra Stanwyck is kind of hot. Thumbs up.
