Review of The Lady Eve (1941) by Kyle M — 23 Aug 2014
A strange romance that's good by some of Stanwyck's performance when her character isn't nasty (the dining room scene before her character met Fonda's character on purpose is her best). Her character sort of control this film like when there are moments that intended to be funnily enough to fulfill its screwball comedy genre are somewhat unsuccessful when her energy is over the film's surface. The only moments that were funny were unintended to be (like the train scene for one). The source of the praises is on the performances and the fine direction of the classic battle-of-the-sexes game. I would say that's agreeable as that could be what's attractive about this considered-as-a-classic rom-com when there's only some of the latter. (B+).
