Review of The Lady Eve (1941) by Zack M — 03 Mar 2011
This is a really well made romantic drama where Jean Harrington uses multiple cons in order to seduce a rich man Charles Pike. It's an interesting enough story, but the progression of it was what bugged me.
It seemed Henry Fonda's character just became more and more idiotic as the story played out. That is really the only reason I lost interest a little over halfway through the running time. The cinematography and acting throughout are excellent, and those two reasons probably contributed to this being picked up by the Criterion Collection.
The ending is a satisfying and humorous conclusion to a very unbelievable story.
