Review of The Good German (2006) by Adam G — 03 Feb 2009
I was a bit disappointed in this film. Specifically with the plot and characterizations, which didn't really live up to Soderbergh's usual standards. But it is still an enjoyable film to watch, especially from a visual standpoint.
Soderbergh does an incredible job making the style consistent with old WWII photography. Cate Blanchett is ravishing as always, and Clooney - well, it's George Clooney. Another part I enjoyed a lot were the subtle little nods to Film Noire, especially the references to Casablanca.
