While trying to capture the essence of the 1940-50's era war-drama film noir movies, "The Good German" fails to capture everything else. The story is a mess, the first act horrible and while George Clooney & Cate Blanchett are great as always, Tobey Maquire has never been more annoying, awful and seriously badly miscasted.
Good idea, bad execution.
