Review of The Gate (1987) by Chris V — 20 Dec 2009
I was initially impressed with the fx when I considered they were from 1987...but as I watched some of the bonus features on the dvd I realized the FX were even better than what I thought...at first I thought it was a lot of stop-motion demons, and some basic matte-painting fx.
..but when I learned that the demons were all actual people and shot using forced perspective, my appreciation grew even more...the perspective shots were nearly flawless...as far as the actual story, it had some good horror moments, some bits of freaky gore, and overall just was an entertaining but not terrifying ride.
