Review of The Fury (1978) by Ken S — 22 Aug 2010
This is a strange little movie. Part horror film, part spy/conspiracy thriller, and all fun. Kirk Douglas is great as a former government agent trying to save his psychic son from a secret research facility led by John Cassavetes.
Amy Irving is the psychic girl who may be able to help Douglas, if she doesn't get caught herself. Comparisons to CARRIE and the later SCANNERS are unavoidable, given the way the psychic powers manifest, but taken on its own this film is very entertaining, mostly due to the quirky fusion of genres and the solid performances from its lead actors.
The final scene is not to be missed!
