Review of The Fury (1978) by Kevin D — 23 Oct 2015
A fair early De Palma movie. Cassavetes seems to have fun playing the embodiment of evil while Kirk Douglas is as good as ever. The movie doesn't seem entirely sure of what it wants to be though. Apart from the final scene, most of the violence is bloody and directed towards women, so it's fairly easy to see the point of some critics who have accused De Palma of misogyny.
Nevertheless, this is still a lot better than some of his more recent efforts.
