I can see now why Spielberg's ending to Raiders was accused of aping De Palma, and I also now realize the ending to Luc Besson's Kiss of the Dragon was a homage to the ending of this film. It's kind of cheesy, but it doesn't rush itself like modern films.
But it needed to be more about something more than it was, it could have been about anything, the telekinesis was secondary to the melodrama.
