Review of The Double Life of Véronique (1991) by Steve Y — 05 Mar 2009
Rather than as a mystery to be solved, "The Double Life of Veronique" should be viewed as a meditation. I don't mean that in any kind of pretentious way - over-educated film critics have complicated over the years what is really a very simple premise: what if you had a doppleganger? How would it change your life? The film itself is mysterious, funny, and romantic, and always leaves you with just enough questions for "one more viewing".
