Review of The Double Life of Véronique (1991) by Hugo G — 24 Feb 2015
7.8/10.
This is the first movie from Krzysztof Kieslowski I've seen, and I have to say that the Cinemarogrpahy full of red and green tones was very beautiful just like Irène Jacob's performance as both Weronika/Và (C)ronique. Moreover, the story of the movie was a very mysterious and feminine one, that reminded me of how powerful female lead movies are, and how sadly there's not enough of them. Also, I liked how evocative both narratives were, with just little explanations and imagery you get to follow this characters and without trying to figure out what's going on, just go with the flow and know that their connection is as inevitable and strong. And even though it might be slow at times, it is quite interesting and mesmerizing.
