Review of The Double Life of Véronique (1991) by Raffaele V — 11 Nov 2016
What a beautiful film from Krzysztof Kieslowski. I had seen it many, many years ago but didn't remember it at all. Irene Jacob absolutely lights-up the screen, playing two separate people who seem to be connected.
I won't give away anything further because I loved watching it unfold. The cinematography is gorgeous, and I absolutely loved the score. For me, the film had the perfect ending which isn't easy to do, particularly with this story.
Apparently Kieslowski told of a 15 year old girl who came up to him and said this film had made her realize that there is such thing as a soul, "it was worth making 'Veronique' for that girl".
This film is a must watch!
