Extraordinary look at a remarkable footnote in the Nazi war effort. Not your typical Holocaust movie, but no less harrowing for focusing on a small group who fared relatively well within the camps. Impressive refusal to stereotype characters, with a morally complex protagonist and a surrpisingly multifaceted camp commandant.
Oustanding performance by Markovics.
