Review of The Counterfeiters (2007) by K L — 19 Jun 2012
It seems that hand-held camera is back in fashion again. The counterfeiters is a chilling look at one little fragment of Nazi operation during the World War II, and is another manifestation that a detailed portrait is usually more powerful than the big picture.
No artist in this day and age dare risking taking a little liberty with their political stance, but the unanimous decision to make Nazi look like utterly inhuman animals has demoralized all the films of this subject matter.
I can't give THE COUNTERFEITERS the credit for taking this risk, but still the film feels more human because it contains a much smaller distortion.
