Review of The Cell (2000) by J K — 05 Dec 2009
I generally dislike J-Lo with a passion and I still do even when watching this movie. But damn, this thing is twisted. Kind of a cross between an acid trip that went horribly horribly wrong and Tron, only the bad guy isn't some computer, but a severely mentally disturbed Vincent D'Onofrio as a serial killer.
What the hell was up with the hooks in the back???? What was also up with J-Lo's funky outfits. She looked like a dominatrix. That's some heavy, heavy S&M references there. Vince Vaughn actually turns in a performance where he's not playing his usual smart-assed self.
He actually does drama well. He should probably do more, but I fear he's now being type cast as the token smart ass. Pity.
