Review of The Big Blue (1988) by Jacob I — 29 Dec 2007
While the underwater photography was well done, I must say that the movie felt perpetually awkward. From the music to the interplay between Jean-Marc Barr (whose portrayal of a man obsessed with the sea and dolphins is absolutely spot-on.
.. to the point that he's annoying to watch) and Rosanna Arquette. Jean Reno was rock-solid as usual, but it was too distant-feeling. Perhaps that was the point. If it was, then it easily gets a 3.
5-4 star rating. However, as far as my tastes go, I have to score it low.
