Review of The Andromeda Strain (1971) by Martin B — 01 Mar 2011
I ususally enjoy disaster/Sci-fi-movies in which a team has to be put together, however cheesy the outcome of the movie may be.
The team should always contain of various characters, all specialists in their fields and filled with disdain to one another. They should really have notjing more in common than the solving the problem in front of them.
You know when a team needs to be summoned early on in a movie that it's gonna get interresting, one way or another.
This must be the mother of all modern gathering-a-stubborn-team-to-solve-problem-movies ever made, and it isn't cheesy at all.
In fact it's a good looking movie in a unusually fast pace to be this old.
It doesn't really matter if there's a good book behind the script, a movie can destroy and kind of book anyway.
I thoroughly enjoy this. There is a lot of lab scenes and close-ups on computers and technology of 1971, and if you're not into that sort of thing you will have hard times with this classic Sci-Fi.
