Review of The Andromeda Strain (1971) by Scott C — 16 Mar 2013
Robert Wise's seemingly intentionally unentertaining adaptation of Michael Crichton's disquieting novel "The Andromeda Strain" is comprised of both a great beginning and a tense ending, but its central parts are lackluster to say the least.
Slow, talky and full of technical jargon, these parts of the film are boring and uneventful, and most will find it hard to pay full attention. "The Andromeda Strain" excels at being nothing more than a detailed look at the process that goes into discovering the cure for a deadly virus, but it's a real bore.
Also, the split-screen editing techniques have dated just terribly.
