Review of The Afflicted (2011) by Roxanne R — 07 Jul 2014
I have to give credit where it is due and this duo of writers did well (Derek Lee and Clif Prowse) as they film themselves traveling around the world. In Paris Derek has a one night stand with a woman that alters his life for the worse.
I don't know how long it will take you to figure out the affliction that Derek suffers from but for me it was around the 30 minute mark. I was surprised to read that This terrifying horror thriller follows two best friends who set out on the trip of a lifetime around the world.
Their journey, documented every step of the way, soon takes a dark and unexpected turn after an encounter with a beautiful woman in Paris leaves one of them mysteriously afflicted. I was surprised to read that this film was a Winner: Best Picture (Horror), Best Screenplay (Horror), Best Director (Horror) at Fantastic Fest.
Good effort on the part of the cast and crew! Making a film IS difficult, a challenge but when you get to show your final product during film festivals it must be quite a thrill. I foresee this one appearing on Netflix in the near future, for now I rented it from Redbox.
Enjoy and safe travels *diabolical laughter ensues*!
