Review of Passion (2013) by Roxanne R — 25 Oct 2014
BRAVO to the cast and crew of Passion, what a phenomenal, intriguing, and intense film that frankly was a delight to watch from beginning to end! I completely disagree with the critics and Brian de Palma is at the top of his game, he wrote and directed this cinematic gem reminiscent of Dressed to Kill.
We have a smart and pleasant advertising account executive named Isabelle (N. Rapace) whose brilliant idea is stolen by her conniving and manipulating boss Christine (R. McAdams). After the incident Isabelle gets even with Christine which ignites an "up the ante" game with devastating consequences.
The film was shot in 35MM and shot in Berlin, a collaboration of French and German personnel. It is very interesting what I read in Wikipedia especially this: "Brian De Palma has an in-built fan base, but a genre like this can be difficult to release theatrically.
" Sadly it did not fare well at the box office but I stick to my guns and affirm that it was fantastic, a film that kept me wondering how it was going to end, with dreamlike sequences, a bit erotic and clearly Rachel McAdams steals the show on this one.
HIGHLY RECOMMENDED and available on Netflix instant streaming in glorious HD.
