Review of Sunrise (1985) by Jon C — 15 Mar 2007
Excellent silent film - while I'm not usually a big fan of silent films (apart from the incredible Passion of Joan of Arc), this one is incredible for its innovative camerawork and gorgeously lit shots alone.
The film is also surprisingly moving with a fantastic performance by Janet Gaynor. While the storyline would be overly melodramatic in a talkie, it works quite well in the realm of the silent film where the broad strokes enhance the film's emotional heft.
