Review of Stripes (2005) by Jon C — 24 Feb 2014
The army can do something for you even for the better.
Bill Murray and Harold Ramis work extremely well together.
The movie takes the army subject seriously but adding a soft, comedic touch to it all.
Even John Candy gets an equal measure of devoted screentime.
Men who join the army sometimes rarely have anything else working for them so when John loses his job, his car, and his girl he convinces his buddy Russell to enlist hopefully to get some action and then some.
Ivan Reitman still has that loveable charm without being too preachy or overly-serious.
Laughing and enjoyment while serving your country hasn't been this foolishly fun.
And the last half of the film is an icing on the cake albeit a familiar one.
