A large cast of unknown child actors actually manage to carry the material quite well.

There have been dozens of stories told about the legend of King Arthur and the Knights of the Round Table and Excalibur.

But here itï¿ 1/2(TM)s nice to have a reinterpretation for todayï¿ 1/2(TM)s age.

Pretty much everything about the Arthur legend is told right from the start; Merlin the Wizard forged the sword, King Arthur brought the warring nations together, and defeated his half-sister Morgana for centuries.

Now though the world has become more dangerous because of troubled relations and doesnï¿ 1/2(TM)t seem to be getting better which is an advantage for Morgana to regain her strength.

A kid named Alexander and his buddy are bullied, he lives with his mom whoï¿ 1/2(TM)s father left years ago, and to him telling the truth and doing the right thing makes things worse.

Yet he discovers Excalibur and everything changes when the army of the undead rises to enslave mankind; now he allies with his friend and two misfit bullies to combat the threat.

Merlin in this version is a teenager but his second form is his much older self played by Patrick Stewart.

The film is very family-friendly with great action and scary visuals.

Really good lessons about uniting warring sides and working together, leaders are only as good as their united followers, the rest of the world canï¿ 1/2(TM)t change unless you do first, legends are just history passed down in rumors, greatness isnï¿ 1/2(TM)t by blood or birthright, and many other battles lie ahead sometimes personal ones.

The kids are very good in their respective parts, real world issues are reflected, and itï¿ 1/2(TM)s a fun retelling of the story almost everyone knows.
