Review of Spartacus (1960) by Rory D — 05 Dec 2009
One of the better classic screen epics. Still suffers from the setbacks that screen epics from that time seemed to have, fakeness of certain sets, unbelieveability of some of the actors and thier dialouge (keep in mind, it wasn't written by Stanley Kubrick, and it wasn't originally his project either) but it seems to break away enough to pave a way for truly great modern epics like Lord of the Rings.
I never thought I'd call a Stanley Kubrick film out for some setbacks, and it leaves you wondering what this film would have been like if it had been Stan's original idea.
