Review of Sophie's Choice (1982) by Steve F — 25 Mar 2008
The slow revelation of the dark secret of Sophie's past seems to take forever, but when it comes -ooh boy! Evil never seemed so banal and callous. A true masterpiece, Streep at her very best as the tragic heroine, Kline also gives a bravura performance as her paranoid schizophrenic lover.
Not light viewing, but worth the effort.
