When people muster the audacity to express even a hint of disappointment in any of Streep's work they must only do so because she had, so early on, raised the bar not only for all humanity, but also for herself.
In truth she has never done anything less than brilliant by any human standard, but her performance in Sophie's Choice no one, not even Streep herself, can ever touch.
