Review of Sophie's Choice (1982) by Gregory B — 07 Feb 2009

Everyone out there should see this movie if for no other reason then Meryl Streep's performance. It is the single greatest performance ever. I have never seen someone feel so real. I have never seen anything like it nor do I think I will.

The other two main actors are both good, especially Kline but they both pale in comparison to Streep but all performances would. This is def a character study so for those who are not that interested in movies without action this is NOT for you.

The writing was good for the most part but could have trimmed about 30 min. and the directing was ok but I was a little disappointed to see the same shots over and over again and they just weren't that great of shots.

But all in all if you are into character study's at all this is the ultimate. A beautiful film with the most memorable performance of all time.
