Review of Silent Running (1972) by Podcasting's Brock ! — 12 Oct 2011
I can see where other projects have borrowed different aspects, themes and ideas from SILENT RUNNING yet that alone does not make this movie entertaining to watch. It is slowly paced and feels terribly dated.
The models look like models, and in some shots, toys. The story is too simple; not enough happens to keep you interested, and it doesn't build to anything. The environmental message is actually too lightly integrated in the second half of the movie.
I liked Dern's performance, but it wasn't compelling enough to stop me from watching the clock waiting for the movie to be over. Not recommend.
