An epic film with absolutely superb storytelling, directing and cinematography, as well as memorable characters who are all interesting in their own right, 'Seven Samurai' has the perfect balance of thrilling action (the sequences still hold up all these years later), drama and humour that comes together under Kurosawa's masterful direction to form a truly engrossing piece of entertainment that is essential viewing for all cinephiles.
Don't let yourself be put off by the almost 3 and a half hours running time, it is worth every minute. A classic for the ages.
