Review of Seven Samurai (1954) by Mo B — 10 Sep 2017
Seven Samurai (1954) is a Masterpiece with Akira Kurosawa's beautiful direction. There is a kind of poetry to the film that has allowed it to be study by film students for its' composition and flow. The story appears quite recognizable by today's audience, yet the timing, pacing, and cinematography captures our attention. The movie's running time is almost 3 1/2 hours long, but it is not wasted. Kurosawa has a beautiful eye for detail when it comes to samurai epics like these. The fact that the story is simple, it reaches complex stages for its' samurai characters and their task to defend the village. Definitely a favorite!
Score: A+ GREAT!!!
