Review of Satyricon (1969) by Alana K — 28 Aug 2008
Definitely not one of my favorite Fellini films. It was as if with his transition from black and white to color he said "fuck the story, let's make this a visual masterpiece!" Which he achieved nicely.
I got the same feeling from Giulietta degli spiriti. You could definitely see where Dario Argento and David Lynch received inspiration from Fellini, with the vibrant scenes and the surreal air. But it was kind of like a long acid trip -- it was fun for a while, but eventually I was ready for it to be over much before it was done.
