Review of Satyricon (1969) by Caroline B — 07 May 2008

I like this film for the reasons everyone hates it: is long, is weird... is fantastic! I love old mythological legends and this is a truly pagan film. It's highly depraved and highly sexual, like those ancient ages really were, but it is also amusing to watch this Fellini's version of such an ancient world, it all seems so schizophrenic, but beautiful and exciting.

Hiram Keller and Martin Potter are the beautiful adventurers... the atmosphere of the film is really archaic and often brings known myths from Greek Mythology, like The Hermaphrodites and the Minotauro, in Fellini's delightful and caricatural personification of characters.
