Review of Quatermass and the Pit (1967) by Michael T — 02 Feb 2008
Bernard Quartermass was a character in several highly rated BBC TV serials in the late 1950s. The serials were written by Nigel Kneale who combined elements of Sci-Fi and Horror to keep British TV viewers in a state of unease.
QUARTERMASS AND THE PIT was the third of the television serials and was later adapted to film by Hammer in 1968. Andrew Keir takes on the role of professer Quartermass in this film which was released in the UK as QUARTERMASS AND THE PIT and in the USA as FIVE MILLION YEARS TO EARTH.
I saw this as an 11 year old kid on KVOS TV 12 in 1979, it freaked me out. A very effective Sci-Fi chiller.
