Review of Pickpocket (1959) by Adrian B — 29 Apr 2011
"Pickpocket" is a talky, but quite compelling film. It is about a man (Martin Lasalle), who steals people's wallets, purses, and bags, from their arms, chests, and of course, pockets. This man also has a problematic life, with a love interest who supports him, but hates what he is doing, and dying mother.
In addition, he expands his pickpocket ring by joining a number of others and then they begin to steal even more belongings. It is really well filmed and definately a fascinating story. However, there should have been more action over dialogue, but that hardly effects the film.
I also found it a little uninvolving. "Pickpocket" is an interesting film.
