Review of The Maltese Falcon (1941) by Late R — 21 Sep 2017
Might have been one of the best films of its time, but with its nonsensical plot leaping from one absurdity to another, and grating background music, it is more a film for historians to note rather than one to actually watch.
The "love" relationship that simmers between Bogart and Astor is particulary lame as it does not fit their characters at all. It almost seems like it was tacked on to the screenplay at the last minute to conform with the studio's mandatory checklist.
Unless you're a historical film buff just don't bother with this one.
