Review of Pickpocket (1959) by Donovan D — 29 Aug 2007
Not quite as relentlessly boring as Au Hasard Balthazar, Bresson's loose adaptation of Crime and Punishment is still nonetheless marred by Bresson's stubborn and selfish aesthetics, but rises above his shortcomings.
Featuring almost balletic scenes that almost aestheticize theft, it is almost possible to overlook the wooden acting. Almost.
