Review of Peyton Place (1957) by Alex S — 03 Oct 2008
Not that bad of a film but it's pretty dated. Directed by Mark Robson, it's basically a 3 hour soap opera about a bunch of romances during the the 1940s. I felt the film was too long and some of the stories didn't fit, they probably could have dropped a few of them.
And some scenes were way too over dramatic (particularly the scene where Allison leaves for New York *loud music*. But most of the performances are very good, but again, there were just too many characters and not enough interesting storylines.
I wish they focused more on the principal and Lana Turner. Anyway, whatever, not awful, but could have been much better.
