Review of Pather Panchali (1955) by Stella D — 29 May 2009
It may be slow, but also may be one of the most beautiful films I have ever seen... Satyajit Ray's vision of poor families in India is so deep and real you just get along with every character in the movie.
Though acting is really bad in my opinion, the characters are so well developed you almost didn't notice the bad acting. There's some scenes that dialog is substituted with just music, and it does a perfect way to transmit even more feeling than conventional words.
A moving masterpiece.
