Review of Pacific Rim: Uprising (2018) by Coregamer1408 — 11 Jun 2023
I got a Transformer (the later movies) meets Power Rangers vibe with this one for sure. Suffers from some contrivance and a few plot holes. I get having a younger cast was to maybe appeal to the kids, but these are teen soldiers.
Kids going to war against a alien race, oof!? That bieng said the creators do try to setup and payoff things. No real standout performances, beyond the two mad scientists hamming it up in a fun way. The action and CGI was fine.
When I think about it this is kind of a dystopian society that relies on teen child soldiers to protect mankind. As for the concept of drift even thinking about it is kind of off. Well when pairing an adult with a teen in a Jaeger.
"Uprising" decends into the realms of unethical mad science. I like it when a movie presents ethical questions (even if it is unintentionally).
