Review of Opera (1987) by Alex D — 24 Apr 2010
Argento's visual style is untouchable and that alone is the only reason to see this film. There is some really really really stunning camera work in this film. Honestly some of the most creative work I've seen in a movie, much less a horror movie.
However the film is really really really dumb. I'm starting to think Argento is somewhat of an idiot savant. The acting is mostly dreadful, the characters are boring and underwritten, the story is shit and the logic is nonexistent.
But, hey, he's Italian... it's whatever.
