I don't hate this film, I don't love it either, however I do admire it. The soundtrack is wonderful and very moving, unfortunately I found the picture itself pretentious and some of the visuals did bore me at times.
One outstanding part for me was the sequence which showed modern day Liverpool, it was almost heartbraking to hear Davies long for the city he once loved.
