Grade - B-.

It's got great performances from all involved, and an emotional depth that most modern sci-fi's lack, helped by the undeniably talented Jeff Nichol's behind the camera. That being said, 'Midnight Special' seems so shrouded in mystery, with so many questions unanswered that it's sometimes hard to feel invested. The movie feels like it's building to something and the ending comes off as slightly lacklusture. Even so, it's nice to see a sci-fi movie that actually involves some mystery, and not just mindless spectacle.
