Midnight Special is a 2016 American science fiction film written and directed by Jeff Nichols.

This science fiction movie ended up being more an 'escape the baddies' style road trip. Apart from the end, the special sci-fi elements were few and far between, and the rest of the plot was very average. There was a constant sense of gloom, bleakness, and 1970s brown was everywhere. The background music was used far too often, especially in the many filler scenes with people staring aimlessly, looking at nothing and saying nothing. There needed to be more complexity in the screenplay to keep the viewer wondering. The MC.
