Review of Meshes of the Afternoon (1943) by Dylan W — 05 Oct 2007
What a mindfuck of a film! avant-garde, poetic, surrealist, this short film expresses the psychic interior of a woman, melding the thin mesh that separates the reality and the dream. experimentally innovative in her time, deren stands tall as a female director who daringly explores her position in the society during her times.
just a sidenote, I love her simpler ' A Study in Choreography for the Camera'. transcendental in the expression of the body fluidity.
