Review of M (1931) by Brendan O — 30 Mar 2009
Something's Pretty Powerful. Something I found interesting about M is that came out the same time as Universal Horror's Dracula, Peter Lorre's Hans Beckert embodied the evil that Bela Lugosi's Dracula symbolized, Lorre played one of the darkest killer on screen but managed to invoked our incredulous sympathy.
Also Fritz Lang deserved credits too as his directing is completely enthralling, beautiful camera-work. During it's release in Germany, the Nazi party wanted to ban this film and did for a short period later, as M rightfully scorned them for the monsters and murderers they were.
M hold a special place in film history.
