Review of Love Story (2011) by Trent J — 04 Jul 2009
A terminal illness movie that works mostly on the charms of its leads. The "and then-and then-and then" story formula runs the risk of telling no story at all, but the filmmakers seem to understand the weakness in their narrative and instead enchant you with thoughtful, lingering shots at a lover watching the other.
It's risky, but it mostly connects. Not a great film, but often more effective, and certainly more genuine than the bulk of romance films today.
