Review of Lawless (2012) by Alex S — 30 Apr 2013
Kind of a waste of Tom Hardy and Jessica Chastain's talents, playing the monosyllabic manly hero and the fallen woman with the heart of gold, respectively. Indeed, every character is a tiresome cliche, down to Guy Pearce, playing not just the crooked lawman, but the germ-phobic, pansy, EVIL lawman (oh and I forgot, Gary Oldman playing Gary Oldman).
The overall impression is of the film playing dress-up; cops and bootleggers.
